Exercise Tips That Make Exercising Fun - March 5

Today was mine and Tom's wedding anniversary so we wanted to do something special. The weather was so pretty and it was a nice change from the icy mini-snow storm that we had just experienced. We also knew that more icy weather would be moving in on the morrow - so wedding anniversary or not, we knew that we needed to get out and take advantage of the beautiful 60-degree plus temperatures because they wouldn't be around long.

We ended up taking bird photos and oh what fun! We must have walked at least 100 miles amid our adventure but the great thing was that we were having so much fun that we didn't even realize that we were indeed exercising. Then again, there were those two or three hills that we climbed over - and that certainly got the old ticker beating fast and hard!

It takes birds a long while to become comfortable around strangers, so we had to be extra patient. But after the two spoonbills in the photo to the right became accustomed to us, they began to interact. We think that they may have been having a debate or an intense conversation. A marital spat? Surely not - and particularly not on our wedding anniversary. Maybe he forgot to take out the trash? Again?

If you find it difficult to get into the mood to exercise, embrace the activities that you thoroughly enjoy.

When we begin to think of exercise as exercise rather than enjoyment, our little brains immediately revolt.

Therefore - let the good times roll. Forget that dusty indoor walking machine and tread on Mother Nature's turf which always leads to high adventure and a healthy dose of exercise.

And if you can't enjoy the Great Outdoors, go on a shopping trip, go bowling, visit a local museum or indoor aquarium. Visit your local skating rink. Visit an indoor swimming pool.

But whatever you do - have fun exercising. Make your heart happy!
