Breakfast - 300 Calories (energy)

1 serving of grits (allow 130 calories)
1/2 cup of skim milk (40 calories)
1 Teaspoon of honey (32 calories) or use sugar substitute
1 pat of butter or margarine (36 calories)
1 slice of whole grain  toast (70 calories)
 

Nutritional Notes: This free diet breakfast menu contains 2 grains, 1 dairy, minimal fat.

Mid-Morning Snack - 70 Calories (energy) - Mid-Morning Snack - 50 Calories (energy) - Use this link OR this link and choose wisely so that your calorie (energy) intake equals as close to 50 calories as possible. This link contains an article that you might enjoy and may be helpful in choosing snacks. Also, you may opt to choose up to 50 calories of your favorite food. As a note, we recommend choosing your snacks based on the diet menus of the day. For example, if the diet menus are sparse where fruit is concerned - opt for fruit. If they are sparse where grains are concerned, opt for a grain - such as 1/2 an English Muffin or 3 crackers - and so forth. Bedtime Snack - 100 Calories (energy)

Cherry, Cherry Shake: 3/4 cup of skim milk + 4 Maraschino cherries + zero calorie sweetener if desired + a bit of crushed ice. Blend until thick.
