One minute we're poking in as much food as we can - the next we're forcing our imprisoned fat into exile. We may do such through starvation, thought grueling weight loss plans, through torturous exercise regimes, though one-food diet plans, through three or ten day diet plans, or through a specific food. Speaking of specific foods, most veteran dieters are very familiar with the following diets: The Rice Diet, The Grapefruit Diet, The Popcorn Diet, The Cabbage Soup Diet, the low carb diets, beach diets, and yes, even The Chocolate Diet. And let's not forget the popular weight loss programs of our day which include: The Jenny Craig Weight Loss Program, Nutrisystem, and Weight Watchers - whose catch phrase these days is, " Diets don't work." Hum....if that is true, then I'm wondering how on earth that I possibly lost over 100 pounds more than a decade ago - without the help of Weight Watchers. Plus, I've kept it off which is more than I can say for most of the people that I've encountered who have tried Weight Watchers. This isn't to say that Weight Watchers might not be the perfect weight loss mode for you - but it is to say that I'm fed-up with overblown and exaggerated weight loss-related marketing tactics. To anyone that says 'Diets don't work' - I challenge them otherwise. Diets DO work! Thousands of people have lost weight through diets and have kept it off. The key is opting for a healthy diet then following up with a weight maintenance plan that lasts a lifetime. And always keep in mind that weight loss plans and programs aren't there to solely help anyone drop pounds. Their chief goal is income. Without income, they fail. With this said, it's vital to note that when considering a weight loss plan or diet program - choose one that IS right for YOU. Just because someone else lost weight via that mode doesn't mean that it's the perfect mode for all seeking weight loss and better health. Use that wonderful brain of yours! Using Mind Power for Weight Loss The brain is the most powerful tool for achieving weight loss. It exceeds the power of all diets and weight loss programs combined. Here are some brainy exercises that can help you tap into the power of your mind: - Use your mind to 'think' yourself thinner. If you pause to think about it RIGHT NOW, I would be willing to bet that for a good portion of the day you think of yourself as being 'fat, obese or overweight'. From this moment forward, block that feeling of fatness from your thoughts. It has been proven that stress releases signals throughout the body that can actually cause significant damage to your health. And it's been proven that positive thoughts can actually work better than medications in many cases in healing the body. It's much like the placebo effect. With this said - it's time to feel great about yourself! - Use your mind power to think like a thin person at meal time when choosing which foods and beverages are the healthiest and best for your body. Odds are, a bowl of fresh strawberries will end up far more appealing than a fat-loaded slice of chocolate cake. Hum...perhaps not ,as it's difficult to get past the deliciousness of chocolate. It's simply part of the human factor. BUT - if you choose to choose the chocolate cake, odds are that your healthy mind thoughts will lead you to choose a smaller slice. - Use your mind power when choosing the weight loss plan or diet program that is best for you. Odds are, you aren't going to find a perfect match. That's one slippery area in which diets fail - when the dieter goes 'by the book'. There is no diet in which everything should be set in stone. Everyone is different - in shape, in size, in age, in muscle mass and so forth. A great diet plan can be personalized - and you can use your mind power to do just that.
