Review of Slim Shots - Part 2 Click here to return to Part 1 Diet Bites' Recommendations for Slim Shots: What we like about Slim Shots is that they claim to be all natural (even though that's not quite accurate as they contain artificial vanilla flavoring). Even so, Slim Shots associates no jittery or other wacky side effects with this product. We also like the fact that Slim Shots encourages a healthy daily diet plan in conjunction with exercise. What we are concerned about is the fact that Slim Shots works to slow the gut action in order to achieve more satiety power (the lasting feeling of fullness). Weight loss supplements can be a bit confusing. On one hand we have those that rid the body of waste asap to remove/release toxins and help keep the metabolism stimulated as well as the body regulated - and in some cases a bit too well-regulated. On the other hand, we're now told that the key to losing weight is by slowing down the gut, thus stalling appetite. Yes - quite a difference here in approach. Several studies on obese individuals have indicated accelerated gastric emptying. Therefore, it is understandable how and why a delay in the ileal brake process might prove beneficial for weight loss. Studies continue and we may shortly see more and more weight loss supplements scientifically geared in this fashion. My thoughts on this issue are simple, such as how I feel about the over-the-counter labels. (Why should a 12 year old child weighing 95 pounds take the same dosage of medication as would a 150, 200, 300, etc. pound adult?) Nonetheless, wouldn't it appear feasible that because the gut is pumped with more food in obese individuals that the gut's acceleration would simply be due to the body's natural response? The gut can only hold so much food. More food equals an increase in the digestive track, more so than that of a normal-weight individual. Although the body may appear larger due to the state of the fat cells, organs remain basically the same size. And even individuals of normal weight experience accelerated gastric emptying from time-to-time, depending upon the foods and drinks they consume. Medical studies have always concerned me - particularly those regarding weight loss and particularly those performed by the drug companies as I strongly feel that in order to truly give a medical study legs - it must be performed by independent study groups who do not have any interest or stand to gain anything (except kudos) from the results of the studies. With this said, it is my concern that many of the studies involving the ileal brake may be a breeding pond for new weight loss treatments over the horizon (in all forms - including pills, appetite suppressants and weight loss supplements). Now with this said, it's important to note that this is not to say that the studies involving Slim Shots were conducted with this intention in mind - but it is to say that when everything is all said and done, it would be refreshing to see these clinical studies - as well as all health studies announce that they have no interest in the product which was involved in the particular study. Time will tell how effective Slim Shots will be in assisting with weight loss. Until that time, we advise that you first meet with your doctor to discuss before taking. Side Note: In our research we came across another weight loss appetite suppressant called Slimthru (developed in Sweden for Melbrosin) which also contains oat oil and palm oil - also sold in tiny creamery-type containers. Also sold as Slim 10/10. click here to return to Part 1 of our Slim Shots review
