Rice & Bean Burrito: Rice + Refried Beans + Flour Tortilla + Cheese = Low Calorie Rice & Bean Burritos

A dynamite low calorie recipe for Rice & Bean Burritos - and it's so simple to prepare. Can also be prepared ahead of time and reheated when you're ready to eat.

Ingredients in Diet Bites' Low Calorie, Low Fat Rice & Bean Burritos

1 flour tortilla (100 calories)

1/2 cup of refried OR mashed beans (60 calories)

1/8 cup of   cooked white rice (instant or regular - about 25 calories)

1 slice of cheese OR a bit of shredded cheese (70 calories)

To prepare our low calorie, low fat  Rice & Bean Burritos, warm the flour tortilla in the microwave between two damp towels. Should only take a second. Next, smear on the warm beans. Top with cheese and fold into a burrito.

For a crunchy burrito - assemble your burrito and cook on low heat using cooking spray or 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Using butter flavored cooking spray adds a buttery bite to the burrito.

Sensational Suggestions

Add a bit of sautéed chopped onions and/or chopped cilantro to the burrito. Adding a bit of ground cumin and/or chili powder to the beans will also spice-up your burrito.

Other tasty go-good-together's include: light sour cream, salsa, picante sauce, a variety of peppers, sun-dried tomatoes. My mom loves to tuck the following inside of her cooked burritos: chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes and chopped onions.

The Calorie Count & Satiety Powers

This recipe produces 1 serving and the basic recipe contains about 255 calories. This burrito is very big and will go a long way in satisfying appetite as the beans contain a healthy splash of fiber - as well as protein.

Serving Suggestion

Enjoy with 1/2 cup of low calorie Spanish Rice.
