Does weight have an effect on blood pressure?
Yes. The heart must work harder in order to pump blood throughout the body in the overweight individual. Hypertension is simply the pressure of blood in the main arteries of the body. Therefore, if an individual suffers from hypertension and weight problems, there is significant stress placed on the heart and lungs.
When we are placed in stressful situations, or when we perform physical activity, our blood pressure increases as a normal response. In the individual who suffers from hypertension, blood pressure readings remain high even when the body is at rest. Many times, losing weight can keep blood pressure at a normal rate.
I am a living example of the impact of weight loss on blood pressure. Before my weight loss, my blood pressure was at stoke level. I was placed on blood pressure medication for years. After the weight loss, I was slowly winged and am now medication free with blood pressure readings in the 'excellent' range.
And I want that for you, too!
The amount of calories that a person burns depends upon their weight and the distance traveled in 'x-amount' of time. For example, a 220 pound person walking the same distance as a 110 pound person will burn twice as many calories if walking at the same speed.
On average, the human body is about 60% water.
Our little brains are about 70% water, our blood is about 80% water and our lungs, 90% water. Throughout the day, even if we are sedentary, we lose water via perspiration, urination, bowel movements, and breathing - so water is vital for survival. It also assists in making the tummy feel full, at times, helping to combat the munchies.
It's interesting to
note that most foods that we consume contain 70-90% water.
Fasting is unhealthy and can be fatal.
