How The Face of Smoking Has Changed Over the Years

Many years ago cigarettes were promoted to the public as a healthy form of relaxation - much in the way that food is currently promoted.

In 1961 Salem promised that 'you smoke a refreshed breath of springtime freshness in every puff'. Camel's pitch person was the magnificent John Wayne who said, 'Mild and good tasting pack after pack and I should know; I've been smokin 'em for 20 years.' John died of lung cancer 20 years later, doing commercials at the end of his life that urged people to quit smoking.

With obesity shooting off the charts, there is an urgency to change the way society thinks about certain foods - in a similar way as how cigarettes are now viewed: "Healthy to Bad".
