Smart Carb Dieting Can Assist in Ridding Belly Fat

Pasta Calories Add Up

One serving of pasta  is 1/2 cup and contains about 100 calories. It's very high for what it is - but oh boy, it's so good!

Measuring out your pasta until you are comfortable with identifying a serving size is a good idea and will help trim calories and pounds while dieting.

And another healthy tip is switching out white pasta for whole wheat.

Healthy Rice Tips

Rice is Excellent for Absorbing Flavors

A serving size of rice is 1/2 cup and it contains the same amount of calories as pasta and couscous - about 100 kcals. Brown rice makes a slightly healthier choice.

Rice is one of the most versatile foods and it tends to absorb the foods mixed with it. Example: If you mix rice with mushrooms, it will take on the flavor of mushrooms.

Bread Tips

Bread - Calories Vary Greatly From Brand to Brand

A serving of bread depends upon the bread you're eating. Many manufacturers have doubled the standard size of bread.

Diet bread may contain 35 calories for a decent sized slice while a slice of potato bread (resembling a small pallet) may weigh in at 4 times that amount. Choose wisely and you may even decide to forego the manufacturer's recommendation and enjoy 1/2 that amount.

Diet Quiche, a Low Carb Recipe

Replace eggs in your recipes with egg substitutes to help keep cholesterol levels in check. One of our favorite recipes that we call Skinny Quiche contains the following ingredients:

1 carton of EggBeaters
1/4 cup of chopped spinach
salt, pepper
1/2 cup of skim milk

Simply mix all of the ingredients and pour into a pie crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees until golden.

Keeping Natural Foods Naturally Low in Carbs by Avoiding Batters & Frying

Dieters - Hide From Fried

Best methods of food preparation while dieting include: boiling, steaming, grilling, poaching, roasting, and dehydrating (meats/fruits/veggies).  Keep in mind the old Diet Bites saying, "When dieting, hide from fried!"
