Mexican Meal Tips

Enjoy a healthy Mexican-style dinner featuring diet-wise fajitas, steamed rice, and beans (drain beans; measure out and mash 1 cup; add 1 Tablespoon of your favorite salsa, 1 Tablespoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin and heat; serves 2-3).

Don't forget the salsa! A few warmed corn tortillas smeared with no calorie butter and dusted with just a smidgen of salt are something to 'ole' about! Grab your castanets and classical guitar. And your candles. Isn't dieting fun?

Fondue Prepared With Low Fat Cheese

Have fun with fondue. Toast some bread, wash some fresh veggies; pop in a bit of skim-base cheese for dipping into the fondue pot. Add skim milk to dilute and offset calories.

For dessert, grab a pack of fresh washed strawberries, as well as a bit of LIGHT whipped topping that you can dip the strawberries into.

Go fishing for Omega-3 fatty acids in lighter selections of fish such as snapper, orange roughy and perch which contain less fat than mackerel and salmon - also great sources for Omega-3's. Once home, bake rather than fry those babies.

Serving size weight loss tip: One serving of cheese is about 1 and 1/2 ounces in its natural state.

When preparing a sandwich, try folding the cheese over and cutting it in half so that you have two triangles. Place it from corner to corner on your bread.  You'll never miss the full slice and you'll be trimming calories from your diet.

Serving size weight loss tip: One serving of yogurt is about 8 ounces. Look for low fat, sugar free yogurt while dieting. Some varieties of yogurt contain more calories than the sea has salt so be sure and look at the label.

Diet Cocoa Solution

Chocolate milk is lovely, but that little dollop of chocolate will more than double the calories in your cup of skim milk. An alternative is 1 Teaspoon of cocoa powder mixed with a teaspoon of water.  Mix into a paste; slowly add warm milk and then sweeten with Splenda.

Ice Cream Tips

Avoid eating from the carton. Ice cream is a Diet Killer in this form. It's also very easy to get carried away by the Diet Demon - yeah, the one who lives in the bottom of the ice cream carton, generally inside the Death by Chocolate one.

Sensible Weight Loss Tips for Menu Planning & Weight Loss

If your lunch is scheduled for 1/2 an hour, enjoy your lunch and plan to either exercise before or after work rather than fitting it in now. However, if your job contains minimal activity and you feel a need to move about, a walk would help to revive you as well as work favorably towards weight loss.

In simple terms, the two chief contributors to weight gain are: too much food and not enough activity. When either is changed, weight loss ensues.

For best weight loss results, begin with an examination of your kitchen pantry. Take an inventory as you would in your closet each Spring. Weed out foods that you recognize as unhealthy and replace them with those that are.

A few danger spots in the daily diet include: incorrect serving sizes, not incorporating the proper amount of food from each food group, and not planning out healthy meals in advance. It takes a lot of time and effort for weight loss - but the end results are definitely worth it.

Feeling hungry?  On your way to the market?  Oh boy, not a good paring. If you're planning on filling up your grocery cart, and you're hungry, then grab something healthy to eat BEFORE you shop - and at least 20 minutes before your shop.  

You'll be more apt to spend less money and to buy forbidden goodies that your Diet Plan doesn't need.
