The Weight Loss Coach
A Weight Loss Story by Sky Taylor - Page 25
“Yeah - that chocolate is a no-no while dieting.”
“Oh that,” she managed, not knowing what else to say.
“This is dark chocolate - the healthy stuff. I want you to meter it out - to have a piece just every now and then, k?”
“Sure,” she told him, thinking why in heaven’s name would she need chocolate when she had him?
‘Shut up, Katy’ she told herself, trying to control her fantasy as they both settled onto the comfortable sofa covered with spring-time flowers. It had belonged to her grandmother and was a favorite item in her house.
“Thank you, Jack,” she eased out and he teased her with, “What? No kiss?”
Blushing, Katy decided to take his teasing seriously and leaned over and pressed another kiss into his cheek, Jack finding it difficult not to move his head so that his lips replaced his cheek.
And then she told him in a soft voice, “Jack, I’ll be right back. The daisies look like they need to take a drink.”
After she exited the room, Jack folded his hands behind his head and leaned back onto the sofa.
Things were going better than he could have imagined and obviously, Katy had the hots for him. The emerald-colored sarong, the soft music, the candles and her kisses spoke volumes. Bird-smird - he felt like the cock-of-the-walk.
He stood as she returned to the room, her face lined with that winning smile, her hands containing a couple of cups for the soda.
She told him, “I’ll go get bowl for the pretzels. I read that it’s best not to eat or drink anything from its original package while you’re trying to lose weight unless it’s a single-serving size.”
“Come here, Katy,” Jack told her, holding out his arms. “I’ll count out a serving’s worth of pretzels for you, okay?” And he would enjoy feeding her every delicious one.
“I-I’m really not hungry,” she assured, going over to join him as he’d suggested.
Jack poured out the sodas, then they got down to business in creating her diet menus.
“So what are your favorite foods, Katy? Let’s start with dairy and end with desserts? Just tell me your favorites.”
“Sure. Well, in the dairy department I like cottage cheese, sour cream and cream cheese the best. Actually, anything to do with cheese. Oh! By the way, Doctor Susan said I only need to lose sixty-four pounds. At least for now. We’ll see if I need to lose more as time progresses.”
“I tend to agree with Doctor Susan due to your frame size and age,” he eased out before thinking.
“You-you know my age?” she asked, holding a hand to her throat. His comments led her to suspect that Jack had been discussing her with ‘lover Susan‘. And she’d thought there was still something to be said for doctor-patient confidentiality.
Drat - yet another slip of the tongue he realized a tab too late.
“Yes, of course I do, Katy. Remember the information I collected before we began this process?” he asked, hoping to heck that he’d asked her such.
“Oh. Yes, that information,” she eased out, appearing to relax in the process. Yet for the life of her, she couldn't recall what info she had provided that dark night.
Before she could mention the pesky doctor’s good name again, Jack shifted the subject. “About the dairy. I want you to shift to skim - but not all at once. Try the next thing down, such as 2% milk over whole. And trust me - I can already feel your pain as I am a whole-milk lover.” Next Page
