Snack Suggestions: 1 pear and 1 cup of your favorite melon.
Breakfast - 1 protein, 2 grains, 1 fat
1 egg prepared any way that you like (fried, scrambled, boiled, poached)
2 slices of whole grain bread, toasted (70 calories per slice)
1 pat of reduced fat margarine (for toast)
Lunch - 1 protein, 2 grains, 1 dairy
Chili Pie Recipe
1/2 can of lean chili (140 calories per serving)
1 serving of corn chips (100 calories worth)
1 slice of mozzarella cheese (60 calories)
Heat 'n eat.
Enjoy 1 granola-type snack bar for about 110 calories.
Dinner - 2 grains, 1 protein, 4 vegetables, 1 dairy, 1 fat
Pasta Feast Recipe
1 1/2 cup of your favorite pasta, cooked
Add the following to the warm pasta which you have sauteed in a pan using cooking spray:
- 1/2 cup of sliced or button mushrooms
- 1/2 cup of diced onions
- 1 cup of raw spinach
- 1/4 cup of white cubed chicken breast, cooked
Next, create a creamy sauce to pour over the pasta-chicken mixture by heating the following in the microwave or on stove top:
- 1/2 cup of skim milk
- dash of ground nutmeg
- 1 pat of reduced fat margarine (60 calories)
- 1 Tablespoon of flour
First, melt the butter, then remove from heat and stir in flour. Make sure that butter isn't too hot. Next, stir in the milk and keep stirring until smooth. Return to heat or microwave and cook until sauce is thick, checking often. Add nutmeg. Pour over pasta. Add salt and pepper if desired.
Enjoy with a small side salad of chopped lettuce, tomato and 50 calories of salad dressing.
