Snack Suggestions: You can enjoy 2 cups of your favorite melon OR 1 cup of blackberries, raspberries or blueberries and 2 cups of strawberries.
The strawberries are a dieter's delight because they are light in calories - at about 45 per cup in their whole natural state. The raspberries, blackberries and blueberries contain about 70 to 80 calories per cup.
Melon is also quite low in energy content at 50 calories per cup. It holds superior qualities in the area of releasing water retention such as due to eating too much salt in your diet.
Other foods which are superior for naturally remedying water retention issues include: beets, asparagus, apples and proteins such as boiled eggs.
Breakfast - 1 protein, 2 grains, 1 fruit, 1 dairy
1 cup of fruit, your choice
1 English Muffin with just a smear of reduced fat margarine + serving of jam/preserves or jelly
1 cup of skim milk
Lunch - 2 protein, 1 vegetable, 4 grains
Tuna Sandwich - Mix 3 ounces of spring water tuna with up to 1 Tablespoon of light Mayo, 1/2 cup of chopped lettuce and tomato. Salt, pepper, then fill 2 slices of whole-grain bread.
1 boiled egg with salt & pepper (slice and add a little vinegar if desired)
2 popcorn cakes
Dinner - 1 protein, 2 vegetables, 1 grain, 1 fat
Sirloin Steak OR T-Bone - 3 ounces cooked (200 calories)
1 SMALL baked potato, salt, pepper
1 pat of reduced fat margarine
1 cup of broccoli, steamed or boiled or stir-fried with cooking spray
1 slice of whole grain bread or dinner roll (allow 70 calories)
1 dairy, 1 fruit
