What Causes Rapid Weight Gain

Any of the following may cause rapid weight gain: 

onset of diabetes, eating foods that contain a lot of salt because salt retains water, thyroid issues, allergies, alcohol consumption due to calorie intake, consuming more calories than the body uses, stress, ageing, genetic makeup, sluggish metabolism, digestive disorders, monthly cycle in women and yes, pregnancy.

 

If you have experienced a rapid weight gain that is not due to over consumption of calories, it's a good idea to make an appointment with your family doctor to root out potential problems. 

Rapid weight gain may be as damaging as rapid weight loss because it places stress on the body, so it's a matter that you'll want to quickly deal with.
