Beware of Pitfalls in the Old Diet Trail
Once upon a time there was a hungry fox who came across a man pulling a cart load of cheese. Needless to say, the man was out of his wits - frightened to smithereens of the hungry looking fox.
On the other hand, fox had all his wits about him and it was when he was preparing to pounce on the man that he noticed the tasty-looking cart load of cheese.
"Hum, " he eased out, holding a paw to his slobbery lips, his tummy greedy for food.
"Mister, tell ya what. I'll spare your life in exchange for your cart load of cheese."
The man was dumbstruck and was only able to nod before running off into the woods where he met a hungry bear. But that's a different story. One that involves a man named Elijah and a whole lot of kids.
When Cravings Turn Sour
As for fox, he dived quickly into the cart load of cheese, tearing off the thick wax wrappers and stuffing his mouth full of the yellow and white goodness.
Only it wasn't good.
"This cheese tastes like crudballs!" fox complained, spitting out bits of the cheese that had turned into yellow and white goo.
He narrowed his eyes and then proceeded to read one of the wrappers from a slice of cheese, "Diet Cheese Food. Contains only 25 calories per slice."
Diet cheese? Well, if he'd known that, he would have settled for the tasty looking peddler. But it was far too late for that now. And suddenly, fox didn't feel so wise anymore. He had been duped - and it had occurred by his own hands, or in fox's case, paws.
Moral of the Story
When dieting, there are some foods that are worth the extra calories due to the taste and texture of the product.
Cheese tends to be one of those foods, including cream cheese. However, fat free cream cheese makes a great substitute for regular cream cheese in baked recipes.
Take note that you must limit portions or fall prey to weight gain. Nothing is ever easy in life, particularly when it comes to losing unwanted fat.
