TEEN WEIGHT LOSS & DIETING TIPS: FRESH 'N FRUITY

Fresh fruit is a big key to a successful diet plan!  It's low in calories, is free of fat, is filling, healthy and it tastes great! The next time that you get hit with the hungries, try the following:

- an apple rather than a piece of apple pie

- a stack of frozen banana cut into small slices rather than a stack of cookies

- a cup of berries rather than a cup of pudding

Sky's favorite fruit recipe:

1 clean apple cut into chunks; throw away the core and apple seeds

Place into a microwavable bowl in the microwave for 2 minutes with nothing but the apple in the bowl. Remove carefully because it's hot. Next, sprinkle on a bit of cinnamon.  Next, add a good spoon of refrigerated no calorie butter spray.

Allow to cool for about 5 minutes, then sprinkle on some brown sugar.

This is delicious and contains about 80 calories. The peeling on the apple also provides a good dose of dietary fiber.

Milk Does a Teen Body Good!

If you are concerned about keeping your body at a healthy weight, there's no better time than now to begin building a better body for your future.

If you have a few pounds that you need to unload, and are concerned that because you are overweight now, that this will follow you from here to eternity, don't keep that cloud hanging over your head.  You can indeed, break the cycle by losing excess weight.

One of the best foods that you can eat that fights weight gain AND accelerates weight loss is something that you enjoyed from the beginning of life.  Milk!  It really does do a body good.

Recent studies prove that adolescents that drink milk are more apt to maintain a healthy weight.  In addition, kids who are milk drinkers, appear to have less problems controlling their weight once they reach adulthood.

Milk also helps the dieter lose weight more rapidly. Keep in mind that calcium supplements don't render the same results - so stick with the REAL thing!

TASTES A LITTLE NUTTY...

We have an old raunchy cat named Blanket who sometimes get a burr in his tail and goes on the roundabouts. He may stay gone for a couple of days at a time, searching for who knows what?

Anyway, during his time away he is extremely active. We sometimes see him running like a fraidy cat in the back area of the house while he is on his roundabouts. He always comes up to eat before scampering back off into his wild, concrete jungle.

When his adventure is ended, he is much lighter than it began due to all the activity.  Keep in mind that he returns for his meals.

We can learn a lesson from Blanket about how activity keeps our weight under control. It works best with a healthy diet, though, so we must keep that fact in mind. Activity with a naughty diet just isn't going to wow our weight loss scales.
