An active diet is one which includes the following three factors:
1. Eating plan based on Food Pyramid and their Food Groups. These include the following groups: grains, fruits, vegetables, proteins and dairy foods.
The human body requires more grain servings than any other Food Group. Proteins, which have been highlighted stringently by manufacturers, aren't required by the body in vast amounts and in excess pose negative health risks to the body.
It only requires 2-3 servings daily; example: 1/2 cup of pinto beans and 3 ounces of fish equals two servings of protein.
2. Moderate activity. We have posted our data chart below on activity so that you can readily see how many calories that each particular one burns.
3. Activity balanced with relaxation which includes rest and doing things that you enjoy, such as a favorite hobby.
The column titled 'House Chores' includes commonly performed tasks in the home such as folding laundry, light vacuuming, dusting, making the bed and doing the dishes by hand.
'Push-Mowing' is mowing a lawn using a hand-pushed mower. If mowing occurs during extreme cold temperatures, the body generally burns more energy as it works to keep the body's temperatures regulated.
The data for 'Golf' is based on walking the course - no carts used for transporting from one hole to the next.
Dancing calories are based on moderate pace.
"WEIGHT" is the amount of body weight that the caloric burn is based upon.
When 'Rugby, Touch Football, Golf, Basketball' are mentioned, this means the amount of energy one can burn by playing them.
Our data is based on 15 minutes of activity. If activity lasts 30 minutes, then twice the amount of calories will be burned. For 45 minutes, three times the amount which is burned for 15 minutes - and so forth.
Based on 15 Minutes of Activity

A Cat's Tale
The neighbors have an old raunchy cat named Blanket who sometimes get a burr in his tail and goes on the roundabouts.
He may stay gone for a couple of days at a time, searching for who knows what?
Anyway, during his time away he is extremely active. We sometimes see him running like a fraidy cat in the back area of our house or in our woods while he is on his roundabouts.
He always comes up to eat at his master's house before scampering back off into his wild, concrete jungle.
We've noticed that the more activity that he has, the more energetic he appears to be. When the neighbors first got him, he was quite lazy. Not anymore....
When his adventure is ended, he is much visibly-lighter than it began due to all the activity.
Keep in mind that he returns home for his meals.
We can learn a lesson from Blanket about how activity keeps our weight under control.
It works best with a healthy diet, though, so we must keep that fact in mind. Activity with an unhealthy diet just isn't going to wow our weight loss scales OR our bodies.
