If you're craving a chocolate pie that's rich but not loaded down with fat, our Quick Chocolate Moonpie just might hit the spot for 258 calories per slice. Or, if you' re seeking something skinner in calories, our Low Fat Chocolate Moonpie comes in at 210 calories per slice.

What's that?

You need something skinner in calories? Okay - then try our Chocolate Crater Moonpie for 179 calories per slice. What's that? You need something yet even skinner in calories? Okay - but this is it, the lowest that we can go without blowing our Moonpie out of the Diet Universe. It's our Chocolate Cloud Moonpie which contains a skinny 88 calories per slice.

We've broken down the Moonpie comparisons below in a nifty chart   - so be sure to check that out. It can be used as a pattern to create a plethora of great-tasting, low calorie, low fat pie recipes that can help you beat the heat this summer.

Our Moonpie is great from the fridge or frozen. As a note, I took a photo of our finished Moonpie and dog-gone-it, the photo didn't transfer into the article. So when I deleted my photo file, the little Moonpie pic vanished along with it. If you're like me, I like to see a photo of anything that I'm considering preparing - so I just wanted you to know that I tried.

As a note, you can decrease the milk in all the pies to 1 1/2 cups. While saving calories, you'll also be creating a firmer pie. Hum....a firmer pie for firmer thighs.....

Recipe #1 - Our Original Chocolate Moonpie
Low Fat, Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients:
1 Small Box of JELL-O Instant Chocolate Fudge Pudding Mix(4 serving size)
2 Cups of 2% Milk
1 Small Container of Thawed Chocolate Cool Whip
1 Keebler Chocolate Ready Crust

Prepare pudding carefully fold topping into pudding and transfer to pie crust. Calories per slice equal about 258, and pie makes 8 very generous servings. But let's take our Quick Chocolate Moonpie down a few notches.

Recipe #2 - Low Fat Chocolate Moonpie
Low Fat, Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients:
1 Small Box of JELL-O Instant Chocolate Fudge Pudding Mix(4 serving size)
2 Cups of SKIM Milk (80 calories per cup)
1 Small Container of Thawed Chocolate Cool Whip
1 Keebler Chocolate Ready Crust

Prepare pudding - this time using SKIM milk carefully fold topping into pudding and transfer to pie crust.

Recipe #3 - Chocolate Crater Moonpie
Low Fat, Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients:
1 Small Box of JELL-O Instant SUGAR-FREE/FAT FREE Chocolate Pudding Mix(4 serving size, any chocolate flavor)
2 Cups of SKIM Milk
1 Small Container of Thawed VANILLA FAT FREE Cool Whip (15 calories per serving)
1 Keebler Chocolate Ready Crust

Prepare pudding - this time using SUGAR-FREE/FAT FREE pudding & SKIM milk. Carefully fold VANILLA FAT FREE topping into pudding and transfer to pie crust.

Recipe #4 - Chocolate Cloud Moonpie
Low Fat, Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients:
1 Small Box of JELL-O Instant SUGAR-FREE/FAT FREE Chocolate Fudge Pudding Mix(4 serving size)
2 Cups of SKIM Milk
1 Small Container of Thawed VANILLA FAT FREE Cool Whip (15 calories per serving)
4 Egg Whites + 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract  + 1 Teaspoon of Cream of Tartar + 2 Tablespoons of Splenda (or use sugar if preferred)

Egg whites are unsinfully good when it comes to calories and cholesterol. It's the old yolk that contains all the fluff. However, when egg whites are fluffed, the end result can be stunningly low in calories and fat. As a note, the Cloud Pie Crust recipe below can also be used to create delicious cookies. Simply pipe or spoon whipped whites onto a non-stick cookie sheet and bake. Use an assortment of extracts to create different flavors of low calorie cookies. You can also use a bit of cooking spray to ensure cookies don't stick.

Low Fat, Low Calorie Cloud Pie Crust Recipe

Prepare crust first by beating egg whites into stiff peaks. Place egg whites into a cold bowl add cream of tartar, then beat. When eggs peak, carefully and slowly add Splenda and vanilla extract. Spoon mixture into a non-stick pie plate and then scoot into a preheated 400° oven until lightly golden - about 7-10 minutes. Crust will cook quickly - so keep an eagle eye on oven. Remove and completely cool before filling with the following pudding mixture.

Prepare pudding - this time using SUGAR-FREE/FAT FREE pudding & SKIM milk. Carefully fold FAT FREE VANILLA topping into pudding and transfer to cooled pie crust.
