1/4 cup of any variety of cooked dried beans
1 Tablespoon of peanut butter
1/2 ounce of hulled nuts or edible seeds

Low Calorie Recipes Featuring Dried Peas, Legumes

Let's kick off the ball with a recipe for hearty chili prepared with the leanest ground beef available which will keep the caloric and fat content as minimal as possible.

When ground beef is in this state, its much like ground steak. Once it hits the pot, it doesn't cook down much and may have issues sticking, so we recommend cooking spray to discourage such.

Texas Chili Recipe With Beans Recipe Ingredients

1 medium size can of chili beans; do not drain
1 medium can of dark kidney beans; drain this can
1 medium can of diced petite tomatoes; do not drain
1 small can of green chilies, chopped and drained
1 pound of extra lean ground beef
1/2 cup of chopped onions
1 package of taco seasoning mix

How to Prepare Our Texas Chili Recipe

Cook the ground beef; use a little water if it starts to stick to the bottom of the pot. Add the onions with the beef; after the meat juices run clear then add the packet of taco seasoning mix and quickly stir to coat the meat.

Add the remaining ingredients and cook until hot and bubbly and done throughout. Serve with reduced fat finely-grated Mexican or Spanish style cheese blends, extra chopped raw onions, chili sauce and pickled jalapeno peppers if desired. We like to enjoy flour tortilla shells with our Texas Chili.

How to Prepare Our Black Eyed Peas & Ham Recipe

Order the ham unsliced and when cut into chunks when you're ready to make this recipe.

Start by adding the margarine to the pot and allowing it to melt; add the onion and allow to cook until it is tender. Add the black eyed peas to the pot along with the remaining ingredients. Do not drain the peas. As to the bacon, crumble before adding. As to the peppers, they are an optional ingredient and if you use, then add them as minimal or as freely as you wish depending upon personal taste preferences.
