Based on Daily Recommendations of the USDA Food Pyramid

Example of Diet Menu 3, Based on the Official Food Pyramid of the USDA

Breakfast - 1 cup of skim milk, 1 slice of whole grain bread, 1 omelet with mushrooms, green peppers, chopped onion, grated cheese and lean ham using skim milk, salt and pepper 1 cup of fruit OR 1 piece of fruit.

Mid-Morning Snack  - 1 cup of fruit OR 1 piece of fruit

Lunch Brigade - 1 cup of whole grain pasta with 1/2 cup of tomato-based sauce with lean meat.   Add 1 garlic breadstick, 1 cup of beets, 1/2 cup of corn, and 1 cup of fruit OR 1 piece of fruit

Dinner - 3 ounces of sirloin steak, large side salad with dressing, 1 whole grain roll, 1/2 cup of brown rice, 1 cup of skim milk, 1 cup of fruit OR 1 piece of fruit

Evening or Bedtime  Snack - 1 cup of fruit OR 1 piece of fruit
