Recommended Daily Fat Amount: 1600 Calorie Diet

Article by Diet Bites

The 1600 kcal daily diet is generally inline with the caloric needs of most women who are of medium height and build - and who are also moderately active. This plan allows for not more than five teaspoons of fat to remain within nutrition guidelines.

Which foods might go towards filling the recommended amount?

A salad that is paired with a light fruit-based dressing.

Three ounces of broiled, baked or pan roasted fish fillets.

A slice of toast in the morning that is spread with a light margarine.

I Need Help in Reducing Fat in My Diet Plan

While it appears easy to accomplish on the surface, this task is truly a significant challenge. Most individuals know the very basics: choosing lighter versions of their favorite products, trimming meats down to the leanest form available and kicking fried foods from the daily diet. Yes - it sounds very easy; like a list of dietary rules that we only need to follow in order to achieve success. Just tell that to the dieter who has been eating soup, cereal and boiled eggs for the last week when a family member has a gourmet supreme pizza delivered to the front door.

Keeping these thoughts in mind, losing pounds as well as trimming fat from one's eating plan requires day to day positive reaction.

Little by little those rewards add up; at first - they aren't so noticeable. Lose a pound or a few of them, and you may look a bit thinner if you have several more to go. But when you lose ten, twenty or more - now we're seeing some nice results. It requires great patience in waiting for the results to show. Many follow the rules meticulously, yet results are generally long in coming.

They may think, "Okay; I've paid my dues; I've been good - I've eaten healthy - now give!"  Oh to have the patience of that hare who was dueling with the tortoise!

On this note, we're sharing a couple of very easy recipes that are reduced in fatty acid content along with preparation notes that we hope will assist you on your weight loss plan.

Spaghetti & Meat Sauce

The following recipe centers on the main course; other foods should be added to create a complete meal. Note that we have removed the traditional meat used in spaghetti and by doing such, we have removed a significant amount of saturated fat. We have replaced the ground beef with vegetables - one of which is the mushroom.

Mushrooms make a fabulous replacement for most meats and they go well with so many foods.

Spaghetti & Meat Sauce Recipe Ingredients

1 cup of cooked pasta of any variety
1 serving of your favorite marinara, pasta or spaghetti sauce
1 cup of sauteed vegetables prepared with cooking spray; use your favorite mix of veggies and we highly recommend using 1/2 cup of mushrooms in your mix. Other good candidates that go well with the mushrooms include white onion, bell peppers, and broccoli florets.
Parmesan cheese, if desired

How to Prepare Our Spaghetti & Meat Sauce Recipe

This is a fairly straight forward recipe; just add the cooked vegetables to the marinara then serve with the pasta. Sprinkle on Parmesan cheese if you wish for a few more calories. Add a serving of Italian bread to the meal along with a nice side salad mix of vegetables and light dressing. How about an apple that has been cored and placed into the microwave for about five minutes - and that afterwards is filled with a spoon of light brown sugar, one chopped nut such as walnut or pecan, a dash or two of ground cinnamon and a teaspoon of light margarine? Sounds good, doesn't it?

Glazed Ham Rolls Recipe Ingredients & Preparation Notes

Rectangular slices of baked deli ham work best for this recipe - but as long as the ham is large and long enough to be rolled, it will do just fine. Add the slices to a pan containing unsweetened pineapple juice and about 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. Allow the ham to heat, then remove from the juices. There are two purposes; first to warm the ham and second, to add other layers of flavor.

Fill one end of the ham roll with the following mix of sauteed vegetables, nuts and dried fruits: broccoli florets, sliced mushrooms, chopped onion and bell peppers of different colors, dried cranberries, golden raisins, dried pineapple tidbits, and chopped English walnuts.

Roll and secure with a toothpick; pour the pan of juices that you used at the beginning of the recipe to heat the ham into a serving dish and lay the ham rolls on top. Dust with just a bit more of brown sugar. The rolls should be hot enough so that the brown sugar melts; if not then return to the heat or place into the oven.
