Happy Housework, It's Not Just for Women, Anymore

With things being so expensive these days it takes both people in the house working these days in order to support the family budget.

And everyone is helping with the house chores - dad, the kids and even the family pet at times. Wolf-Wolf!

On the positive side, doing any type of activity assists in burning kcals. In comparison, Cinderella burned about twice the number of kcals by scrubbing her mean old stepmother's dirty floors - but we'll take all that we can get when we're trying to lose weight.

So how many calories can we burn by folding the laundry?

Individuals who are 150 pounds will burn about 37 kcals for every fifteen minutes of folding the clothes and putting them away - as well as loading them into the washing machine and switching them to the dryer. If you hang them outdoors instead, you'll burn a few more due to the bending involved.

Activities that burn about the same amount include: washing the dishes, clearing the dining table, sweeping the floor in a non-vigorous manner, window shopping, casually shopping at the market, vacuuming and making the bed.

You'll burn about double the kcals doing the laundry than you will watching the television or surfing online.
