The caloric burn in our data chart below is calculated on the basis that no golf cart was used - that the golfer walked the course. Yes, the old-fashioned method of getting a hole in one - and it's still the best.

This just goes to substantiate that sometimes, new technology sets us back rather than forward. This is particularly true when it comes to machines that take us from Point A to Point B; while our ancestors (recent ones at that) used to walk to the mercantile or ride a horse - these days we drive everywhere.

Unless one is simply practicing, competition is generally involved with golfing. Completing anything in life has its advantages - even a game of golf.

And when the game ends on a high note (with a win) is it accompanied with a feeling of accomplishment. Happiness, self-worth, a feeling of accomplish - all are important to our healthy emotional state and each plays a role in our overall state of health.

Drop the ball more often and you'll burn more fat by bending over to collect it - as well as workout a few abdominal muscles while stretching the legs.

How Many Calories are Burned Golfing?

The results are fairly impressive as a 170 pound individual can burn about 300 calories per hour golfing the old-fashioned way.

Those that are in the 120 pound range will burn about 50 calories every fifteen minutes - or about 200 per hour.

Those that weigh in the 250 pound range will burn two times that amount at about 100 per fifteen minutes and over 400 per hour.
