Have a few pounds that you'd like to sink forever? You don't need a battleship - a canoe or kayak will do just fine.

And oh my - the workout that you'll be giving your upper body. As to the lower part, this is one activity where it doesn't receive much in the way of activity but it does benefit in the area of improved balance.

Row for fifteen minutes or so, then take a break. If there are people onboard who can share with the task of rowing, that's a great idea that can save you a lot of misery later in the day when soreness settles in from overexertion.

Heart rate is increased amid rowing which in turn strengthens the largest muscle - as well as the most vital in the human body.

Lung performance is also enhanced.

And the muscles in the upper body get a thorough workout.

If you're wanting to take a trip and are thinking about purchasing a canoe or kayak, it might payoff by looking for rentals. Twenty dollars per day is quite a bargain in comparison to a five hundred dollar investment that may only be used two or three times before it's sold.

How Many Calories are Burned Canoeing? What About Kayaking?

A 210 pound individual will burn approximately 300 calories amid a half hour row or about 850 in a one hour row. For the individual who is half this size a 105, they will burn about half the number of calories as the larger individual. Size truly matters when it comes to expended energy levels.
