Baseball & the Caloric Burn

So, how many calories can an individual burn while playing baseball? If one weighs 200 pounds and plays for one house, they will have burned about 500 calories.

That equals about 1/7th of a pound. One would need to play for about 7 hours in order to lose one pound - and this is based on the 200 pound weight.

An individual who weighs 100 pounds would need to play more than 13 hours to lose one pound.

This is a great example of how difficult it is to drop fat. While it can quickly adhere to the body - it requires a lot of elbow grease to get it off.

And there is even more difficulty added to the fitness equation when we consider that if an individual weighs 200 pounds and they need to lose to say - 120 to be within their recommended healthy range, the more weight that is lost, the more time it will require to get off the remaining fat.

As weight decreases, so does the amount that is burned.

This is why the end-phase of dieting is so delicate. The individual must take great care in balancing their energy needs to determine a good estimate of the amount of caloric values that their body requires to permanently maintain that healthy number on the bathroom scales.

It doesn't have to be a precise or exact number because each day our body will burn a different amount of energy values than it did on previous days.

Having a good estimate of energy needs simply ensures that the unwanted fat will remain gone forever.

The great thing about playing baseball is that it is one of the activities that doesn't make a person feel like that they are exercising. It can be a very competitive game and when this is in play, we tend to concentrate on winning - not all the exercise involved.

Speaking of which, baseball contains so many different exercises: crouching, bending, stooping, stretching, running, sliding and yes, spitting. But keep in mind the spitting should be performed only by the pros.
