Protein Grams in Beef, Poultry, Pork, Fish & Shellfish

Written by Diet Bites

Protein in Beef Selections

How much protein is found in a three ounce serving of steak? About 24 grams which is quite significant.

Danger of High Protein Diets to the Human Body

Take note however, that high protein diets are not as healthy as they appear on most advertisements and can end up doing more damage to your health than good.

They are specifically taxing (and dangerous) to the kidneys and heart.

And once the kidneys are impacted, the heart is then jeopardized.

RDA for Protein in Daily Diet

The USDA's recommends 46 grams of protein per day for healthy adult females and 56 grams daily for healthy males. Males require more values because their body contains more muscle than the female anatomy.

As we can readily see in our data chart posted below, just by eating three ounces of steak - or beef, we're about half-way there.

And keep in mind that most individuals eat about two to three times that amount per sitting in our modern day diet - and that amount keeps climbing according to recent statistics.

Protein in Fish & Shellfish Selections

Out of all of the animal proteins on this page, fish and shellfish make the healthiest choices. Most are significant in protein grams while remaining low in dietary fat - and most of the fat is derived from the healthiest forms. Fish is also quite famous for its Omega 3's.
