  Diet Turnip Truck

Turnips are one of the lowest calorie vegetables in the garden and are very easy to grow.  Unlike carrot tops, the tops - or greens - of the turnip can be eaten.  Chopped greens, chopped turnips, a dash of salt and a piece of raw lean bacon produce one yummy diet-friendly concoction!

Nutritional Turnip Facts: A one-half cup of boiled turnips contains about 14 calories. The turnip is a cousin to the rutabaga. Turnips also contain vitamin C and fiber and may even help regulate blood sugar.

Dieting With Turnips - Tips for incorporating turnips into your healthy weight loss plan:

Raw turnips are fabulous!  I like mine peeled with a little salt.

Cooked turnips that have been cut into cubes can be mashed just like potatoes and are quite delicious.

Turnips also make a great addition to stir fry.

Go ga-ga and try mixing a few turnips with potatoes.
