Diet Help

An honor system is an uncontrolled environment that relies on honor to support its success.  An honor system is totally open to abuse OR trust.  Diet Plans operate a bit like an honor system.

A dieter may be presented with a moment in which they can slide away from their weight loss plan, and many times, a frustrated individual does exactly that.

On the other hand, a steadfast dieter will conquer all odds and overcome those obstacles they face while attempting to lose those unhealthy pounds.

And brother, let me tell ya, it ain't so easy when you're hungry and you've got a naked brownie standing right before your eyes, seducing you into temptation.

Tips to keep your diet from slipping off of the Honor System:

Avoid shopping for groceries when you're hungry or you'll end up with temptation lined from pantry wall to pantry wall.

When feeling ill, concentrate on getting better rather than focusing on weight loss.  What good is losing weight if you're dead?

Never go to the movie theater hungry because you'll not find a World of Heath at the concession stand.

Don't buy a pet because you plan to make the pet make you walk each day.  Makes perfect sense to me....

Do add a healthy salad or low fat broth-based soup to your lunch and dinner meal plates. Enjoy either before you concentrate on the star of the meal.

If you're feeling like a binge, don't waste your precious time brushing your teeth or chewing gum to drive away the hungries; instead - get up and move. Activity will assist in staving your appetite more effectively than any toothbrush or stick of gum known to modern day man. As a side note, continuous gum-chewing develops muscles in the jaw line, making the face appear larger than it really is - the same way that building muscles in the arms makes the biceps look impressive. While impressive biceps are desirable, who wants impressive large jaws?

The tooth-brushing is indeed a great habit to get into, particularly after each meal. Good dental health fights dieter's breath and helps erase potentially harmful bacteria in the mouth. Keep in mind that plaque builds on the outside as well as the crevices of the teeth - and on the tongue, so don't forget to address the tongue when you clean. It's commonly the culprit of horrific odorrific issues.

Keep a stash of healthy snacks in your pantry; the cereal bars as well as those that have been gussied-up with chocolate mini-chips or even dipped in dark chocolate make good choices when the caloric values are within reason. If they are packed with dried fruit, healthy nuts or seeds - even better.

Think about what you want to accomplish with your weight loss plan; do you just need to ditch pounds? Do you want to firm-up that body? Do you wish to continue healthy eating after the plan ends? Where will you take your plan into the future?

All of these questions are important to address before you reach the end of your plan. The situation is much like having an accident; one never plans to have an accident - but if they have everything in place should that accident occur, it helps reduce the severity so that they can get right back on track with their life.

Having a plan in place for when the diet ends can assist in avoiding a rediscovery of those lost pounds.
