BMI Calculate Over Weight

Purpose of BMI

A BMI Chart is just another method for determining if an individual is overweight - and if so, the extent of their condition.

Keep in mind that charts are just another tool for measuring and determining healthy weight - and they aren't always on the money.

For example, a weight lifter is going to weigh a lot more than a person who doesn't have significant muscle mass - yet his body weight may fall within the unhealthy regions of weight and BMI charts. He (or she) might be the healthiest person on the planet.

Fit & Overweight

Also take note that an individual can be fit and overweight.

Sure - dropping pounds down to within the recommended weight levels can offer healthy benefits, but an overweight individual who works out has much lower health risks than an individual who may be at their recommended weight - yet who is considered a couch potato.

When there is little to no activity within one's day, the body literally deteriorates. The muscles weaken, and let's keep in mind that the heart is just one giant muscle - one that we can't live without.

In the fit overweight individual, the heart is strong and the other muscles in the body are in great working order.
