Binge Tips

This is a continuation from this Natural Diet Plan article: Binge Eating

Using Common Sense

Almost everyone who has access to a bounty of food has committed that notorious Act of Binge. So if you've done such, sweep aside the guilt. You are perfectly human.

The danger in participating in this type of eating rests in our future state of health. While that certain something-or-another was delicious, and while we enjoyed far too much, if we continue on this path it will swiftly lead to weight gain.

And when we gain too much weight we become overwhelmed. We quickly realize that we don't have an extra five or ten pounds to trim off - rather fifty, seventy or more than one-hundred pounds.

We may become frustrated with our unwise choices; we may lose self-confidence because we are embarrassed by the size of our body, as well as the shape. Unfortunately, we don't all put on pounds in the same areas of the body. Some gain more in the hips and thighs while others walk around on skinny buffalo-like legs which support an abdomen the size of a beer keg.

The other negative to binge eating is that is doesn't require a lot of time to conclude. For example, how long does it take you to indulge upon your favorite food or drink? Five, ten, twenty - even thirty minutes? And if that half-hour could be carved from your day, how would that change your life?

Tips to Curb Binge

So this is the first tip; before you indulge freely - consider that favorite food and think about the potential amount of pounds it could generate. Does the flavor and texture of the food or drink justify the outcome? Do you really want to go down this path? Is there something else that could curb your craving?

Focus on the food that you're consuming. If you're watching television, playing a video game, or talking on the phone - you're not going to be focusing on what goes into your mouth. After it's gone you may wonder if the dog came along and gobbled it up as you didn't even remember eating it.

Enjoy each bite or sip. Most individuals only focus on the flavor of what they eat. Instead, also focus on the aroma, the color and the texture.

Don't eat like you're using a shovel or backhoe; take small bites. If you're concerned about your food becoming cold [where warm food is the star], heat your plate in the microwave before eating. Chew well before swallowing and your digestive system will thank you for doing such later. No one likes Happy Heartburn or Ms. Generous Gas.

Think about eating choices that are low in calories, yet will serve to satisfy your cravings - and keep those on hand.

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee following your meal. The warm liquid is not only soothing to the body but will also assist in making you feel fuller.
