|
Dear Diet Bites, A co-worker has been on the 6 Week Body Makeover program for 10 months and has lost over 100 lbs. She inspired me to check into it and give it a try. I have been on the program for six weeks now and have lost 29 lbs. I began the program while recovering from an injury to my foot so was not able to walk or do the exercises, and still lost. I don't find the diet boring, bland, or lacking in any way. I do vary it a bit on occasion, but just slightly. If I am craving something very sweet I core, quarter, and slice an apple wafer thin. I toss the slices with a mixture of Splenda and cinnamon. This is a snack with a cooked chicken tender or two. Or my snack might be a crepe made up of egg white, vanilla, Splenda and cinnamon then slide onto my plate with ½ cup fruit (I like mixed berries) put on half the crepe and the other half folded over it. YUM! My meals are the same meals I have always made, just without salt (I have a good selection of salt free spices and Mrs. Dash), butter or margarine (I have been using the I Can't Believe it's Not Butter spray), sugars, and oils. I actually cook most of my meats (chicken or fish mostly) all at one time over the weekend, and then freeze them in individual portions. I also make up several servings of rice and keep it in a storage container in my fridge. I love the stir-fry blends of frozen veggies with peppers, snow peas, mushrooms, etc., so I buy several bags to keep in the freezer. I just grab 3 meat (one for lunch and one for each of two snacks), a carb (either a small potato, or ½ cup rice), a portion of veggies, and two fruits when I am packing my lunch and snacks for the day. All goes into the fridge at work and are ready to be micro waved for snacks or lunch. Sometimes lunch is a salad with mushrooms, onion, whatever other veggies I may want, and I slice up my chicken to add to it. I then use my carb in the form of rice, add vanilla, Splenda and cinnamon and have a great salad, and dessert. For the salad dressing I use light rice vinegar and add Splenda and a drop of sesame oil. It has a bit of an Asian flavor and is very light so it doesn't distract from the rest of the salad. Six weeks, 29 pounds, eating 5 to 6 times a day not hard to do at all. I started at 323 pounds, and am now at 294. I'll be on the program a while, but it's okay. I can LIVE with it!! Thanks, Susan in WA
