Magic Bullet Recipe for Creamy Coolslaw

A lower calorie diet recipe for coleslaw prepared with common green cabbage.

Cabbage is a dieter's best friend!  Low in calories, virtually no fat - unless you turn it into slaw that is.  But hold the Diet Phone because we've created a slaw recipe that's low in calories and fits into almost anyone's Calorie Budget.

How so?  With our Magic Bullet.

So grab your Bullet and the ingredients listed below and yes - you can enjoy your slaw and lose weight too.

As a 'foodnote', this slaw makes a beautiful dish for picnics, family get-togethers and company functions when served in a big glass blue bowl.

While we used common green cabbage, you can certainly opt for a little of the purple head in this slaw recipe to give it brilliant color.

Magic Bullet Recipe for Creamy Coolslaw

You will need the following ingredients to prepare this diet recipe for slaw:

pin_red.gif 1/2 head of shredded cabbage OR 1 bag that is pre-shredded - one head contains 218 calories so our caloric value for 1/2 cup is a tiny 109 calories.

pin_red.gif 1/4 cup of Splenda which contains zero calories

pin_red.gif 2 Tablespoons of skim Milk

pin_red.gif 1 shredded carrot; one large carrot contains only 30 calories

pin_red.gif 1/2 teaspoon of celery salt; go easy because it can make or break your recipe. If you add too much the flavor will be too strong. It only takes a little to go a long way; you might even prefer less - so start with a sprinkle and add from there after doing a quick taste test.

pin_red.gif 1/2 cup of LIGHT Mayo - about 150 calories; the fat free version contains about 90 calories per 1/2 cup but we prefer the flavor of the Light.

pin_red.gif 1 teaspoon of pineapple OR lemon juice

Place Mayo, Splenda, celery salt, lemon juice and milk into large Magic Bullet container.  Whip these ingredients before pouring onto the cabbage and carrots.  Mix until thoroughly incorporated.  Chill.

The use of skim milk, sugar substitute and low fat Mayo keep this slaw recipe minimal in caloric content. The use of the Miracle Whip over other versions of Mayo adds zip, as does the pineapple or lemon juice without adding calories.

The entire recipe contains about 300 calories.
