When foods that are low in carbohydrates as well in caloric content, lean meats reside at the forefront. Not necessarily based on the combination of low calories and minimal-to- zero carbohydrates - but because lean meats meet both of these health markers and hold great satiety powers.

Pan-Roasted Chicken Recipe

The Recipe Ingredients

lean chicken tenders, visible fat, bone and skin removed
Spices: sea salt, cracked pepper, lemon pepper
Extra virgin olive oil

How to Prepare This Recipe

This is a very easy recipe. Simply oil the pan with the olive oil. Once hot, place the chicken into the pan and good on low heat on both sides until golden brown. About half-way through the cooking phase, add the seasonings to suit personal taste preferences. Serve with fresh cooked vegetables of your choice.

Baked Eggs, a low calorie carb recipe

The Recipe Ingredients

2 large eggs plus a bit of butter
1/4 cup of grated Cheddar cheese
Seasonings: Salt, Cracked Pepper, Fresh Parsley, Fresh Chives - all chopped

How to Prepare This Recipe

Use the butter to coat a mini casserole dish that is microwave-proof safe. Add the cracked eggs to the dish and top with the seasonings, and set the shredded cheese to one side for now. Be sure to pierce each yolk so that they don't explode during the cooking process. Cook in the microwave until eggs are done; add the cheese. It should melt due to the heat of the eggs.

Or, you can bake the eggs in an oven by setting the casserole dish into a finger of water. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for about 20 minutes with the seasonings - and no need to pierce the yolks this time. Add the cheese and return to oven to melt if necessary - or serve the baked eggs without the cheese for less calories. Using this method, several mini-baked eggs can be prepared at once.

Egg Salad in Lettuce Leaf, a low carb recipe

The Recipe Ingredients

6 hard boiled eggs - shelled, rinsed and mashed with a fork
3 Large Lettuce Leaves such as from Iceberg Lettuce; rinsed and dried
1 to 2 Tablespoons of light Mayo and 1 Teaspoon of Yellow Mustard
Seasonings: paprika, sea salt, cracked pepper, celery seed
Optional: sweet pickle relish,, chopped pimentos, chopped black olives, sliced jalapeno, diced onion and celery

How to Prepare This Low Carb Recipe

Combine the above ingredients, doctoring the recipe with the ingredients to suit your personal taste. Place the egg salad to one side of the lettuce as you would enchilada filling.

Earthen Vegetables, a quick low calorie vegetable recipe

The Recipe Ingredients

4 carrots, peeled and rinsed with the ends snipped off
2 large potatoes, peeled and rinsed and cut in half, length-wise
6 large button mushrooms left whole
1 onion cut into large slices and chunks
2 bouillon cubes (chicken, tomato, beef, vegetable - your favorite flavor)
Salt & Pepper to suit personal taste
1 small roasting bag

How to Prepare This Low Carb Recipe

Prepare the roasting bag via the package instructions. Place the vegetables into the bag after sprinkling them with salt and pepper.
