Quick Bread, a Low Calorie Bread Recipe

Our Quick Bread is a yeast based bread recipe that takes about 10 minutes to pull together. Allow 30 minutes for rising and about 20 minutes for baking...

Quick Bread Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients

2 cups of all-purpose bread flour + excess flour for kneading
1 Tablespoon of Yeast (1 package)

1 Tablespoon of Sugar

Teaspoon of Salt

1 Cup of Hot Water

2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil

1 Egg + 2 Tablespoons of Skim Milk (or any variety that you have on hand)

Cooking Spray

In a large, deep bowl combine the flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Next, add the hot water and oil. Stir; the dough mixture will be sticky.

Spread a bit of flour onto your kneading surface and begin kneading the dough for five minutes. Add flour as necessary so as dough doesn't stick to surface BUT take care not to add too much or dough will be tough and bulky.

Place kneaded dough back into the mixing bowl and cover with a cloth that has been dampened with cool water. Allow Quick Bread to rise for 30 minutes.

Spray baking pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Transfer the Quick Bread to loaf pan OR shape into rolls if desired. Ourdiet bread recipe picture of Quick Bread to the right illustrates both methods.

Before baking, brush surface of bread with egg wash.

Bake in a preheated 400-degree oven until golden brown.

Our Quick Bread recipe makes 1 loaf of bread or 1 dozen rolls. The entire recipe contains about 1,450 calories.

The use of olive oil provides a unique flavor to the Quick Bread while adding healthy benefits. If perchance you don't have olive oil on hand, your favorite vegetable oil may be used instead.
