Kid's Restaurant Nutrition Facts

If you're dieting and find yourself at Sonic - with kids or not, ordering from the Kid's Menu can assist in keeping energy values down. Most of the smaller size burgers contain about one-half the calories as the larger selections.
As for ordering for kid's, it's a good idea to allow them to make their own choices. If they don't like what they are eating, they most likely won't eat it - and you'll end up with wasted food, and wasted money.
If you find one of the selections which is available on the kid's menu to be too steep in fat and calories, omit that selection and try to offer at least two other healthier choices to your child.
The Jr. Burger at Sonic contains 330 calories and 17 grams of total fat. The total fat takes the values from all the lipids lodged inside the foods such as Trans fat, Saturated, Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats.
Of the 330 calories, 150 of these are from fat.
While total fat is a concern, we must view the other nutritional elements of the selection in order to make the healthiest choice for our meal. We see that while the Jr. Burger at Sonic is good in the area of calories, the salt content is very extreme at about 500 milligrams.
Adults are advised not to exceed 2400 milligrams daily, with many requiring much less in order to retain good health. But note, this is an improvement over their former recipe which held over 600 milligrams of sodium.
In addition, there are 35 milligrams of cholesterol in the Jr. Burger. If you child likes cheese, the cholesterol content is increased to 55 milligrams. The salt content is also significantly increased - climbing close to 1000 milligrams of sodium.
We review restaurant and fast food nutritional data often and since our last review, we have noticed that Sonic has drastically reduced the amount of Trans fat in their menu. Food selections which once held 3 grams of Trans fat now contain 0 grams.
|
We hear a lot about how unhealthy franks are in the diet yet the Corn Dog contains only 230 calories, and 15 total fat grams.
However, things spiral downward when we review the sodium content at close to 600 milligrams.
If you're making your choice on calories, both the Corn Dog and the Chicken Strips make good options.
If you're choosing between the Tots and Fries, the fries win out because they hold much less salt content.
