For 250 calories, 9 grams of total fat and 3.5 grams of saturated fat, the hamburger makes a healthy selection.
There is quite a lot of salt tucked into this burger at over 500 milligrams, and as with all foods which contain animal proteins, it isn't free of cholesterol. This particular selection contains 25 milligrams. The kid's hamburger at Sonic holds 35 milligrams. Both contain traces of Trans fat.
The Cheeseburger adds about 50 more calories to the meal plate, 3 more grams of total fat and the saturated fat gram values almost double. Both cholesterol and sodium milligrams also increase. Cheese is notorious for its salt and fatty acid content, even the smallest of slices.
If the cheese is 'real' and not 'cheese food' it is classified as a complete protein. Note the increase in the protein gram column of our data chart below. This is due to the addition of the cheese. So in this area, it is a healthy plus. In the area of increased salt and cholesterol, it's a negative. As we can easily see, it's difficult at times to balance the nutritional values of the food choices we make.
As an outside suggestion, we would also recommend ordering the Fillet O Fish Sandwich from the adult menu. As your server to go light on the tartar sauce. If the cheese is omitted AND the tartar sauce amount is reduced, the sandwich will contain about 300 calories. Add lettuce and slices of tomato and you'll have delicious bites of health.
Order a side salad and transfer the vegetables into the burger.
When possible, we take along our own variety of fresh vegetables which often include green leafy leaves of lettuce and slices of tomato.
It makes all the difference in how our burger tastes - and adding vegetables adds healthy notes to the menu selection which satisfying daily servings recommended by the Vegetable Food Group.
The chicken makes a healthy option for kids as does the ice cream cone and the fruit and walnut salad.
