It's either a burger....or a burger with cheese. However, the good news is that both are good as far as energy values are concerned. The total fat gram content is within reason - considering that we're looking at animal proteins.
If the ground beef were of the leanest variety possible, the hamburger wouldn't contain quite 200 calories. Most fast food restaurants use the fattier ground beef because it's simply less expensive - and consumers like their daily dose of fat.
All excepting the Cheeseburger are minimal in sodium content. We've recently reviewed burgers which more than double this amount - yes, found on popular fast food and fine dining kid's menus.
All of the menu items at Burger King on the kid's menu contain protein gram benefits, even the fatty, high calorie vanilla shake.
The only difference in the Hamburger and the Cheeseburger is that the later contains a slice of cheese.
Make that about 3/4 of a regular slice because most regular slices of cheese contain about 80 calories; the Cheeseburger calories are only increased by about 50 calories.
While cheese can be salty, it is classified as a complete protein. Note how the protein gram values in our data chart increase by more than two grams after the addition of the cheese.
We would recommended the Cheeseburger for a tab over 300 calories and we would also recommend that you order it with added lettuce and slices of tomato to increase the nutritional values. OR - you can bring along your own vegetable and fruit additives [the tomato is a fruit, botanically speaking].
If you order the Small Fry, consider sharing with your child - or find a friendly flock of birds to share the love with.
We do not recommend ordering the shake; it's simply too excessive in calories and lipids. Even if you share the shake, with the fry and burger calories - that's a lot of energy values for a small child to consume in one sitting.
