Scary Weight Loss Risks

Healthy, Low In Calories, Low In Fat Diet RecipesLosing weight scary?  Hum - how could this be?  Losing weight is great - losing weight makes a body feel better and losing weight may add years to your life.  So how in the Diet Heck could weight loss be scary?

Unfortunately, for every good, there is a bad and such is true in the area of weight loss.  Weight loss does not come without risks, and sometimes permanent consequences.  This is just one reason that dieting requires patience and why the dieter must lose weight safely, wisely and after it's gone, why they must work to keep unwanted weight from returning.

On that note, we have outlined a few of the scary things that can happen when a dieter doesn't safely lose weight.

Hair Loss - Many dieters make the mistake of cutting almost all the fat from their diet which in turn may cause hair loss.  Fat in the daily diet is necessary for the shine in our hair and the glow on our skin.  Fat in the body is necessary for protecting and cushioning the vital organs.

Tooth Decay & Bone Loss - Many dieters toss the dairy section completely out of their diets because most dairy products tend to be high in fat and calories. Recent studies indicate that skimmed dairy products - particularly milk, may actually increase weight loss results.  How much?  Three cups per day.

Malfunction & Damage to Vital Organs - If calories are at an extreme low, permanent damage may occur to the vital organs.  We do not recommend any diet under 1,200 calories and a safe diet may start at an even higher number; in our estimate that would be 1,350 calories.  Slow weight loss equals permanent weight loss.  As a note, individuals needing to lose a good amount of weight (over 50 pounds) may even require more calories while dieting.  Daily calories should decrease as weight is lost until weight loss goal is reached.

Skeletal Frame - Damage to the skeletal frame may occur due to weight.  Our bodies were build to support a specific size; when fat accumulates, the frame breaks down just as a house does when too much lumber and material is applied to the exterior.

Summing it Up - Diet to lose weight in a safe manner aiming for a two pound per week rate of weight loss.  Your body may reward your wise efforts by adding many years to your life.

As always, Diet Bites advises anyone going on a diet plan to seek the advice of their health care professional who may even uncover a hidden ailment contributing to obesity.  Only a doctor can prescribe a diet that right for you!
