Protein Diets Promote Risk of Acidosis & Acid Issues

Foods which are rich - or even not so rich sources for protein can work to destabilize the body. While the human body works quite well in keeping our system in balance, for healthy individuals there is a range for measuring the acidity as well as the alkaline levels.

Depending upon what we consume in our daily diet, the range varies.

Example of foods which create a more acidic body.

If we consume a meal of the following, we're likely to be more acidic: roasted chicken OR meatloaf OR fish OR any other animal protein, baked potato without the skin OR white steamed rice OR pasta, bread of any variety, milk and a serving of pineapple upside-down cake for dessert.

Example of foods which create a more alkaline body.

If we consume the following foods at mealtime, our reading when taken via blood work or by using a simply urine test strip will most likely register towards the alkaline side: salad prepared with lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber; a baked sweet potato, a serving of yellow squash, herbal tea and a serving of fresh pineapple for dessert.

Fruits & Vegetables For Fighting Acidity

To combat the effects of too much acidity in the body, Vitamin C-rich foods will rush to the rescue. While acid in their raw state, once consumed - the metabolic process converts them to an alkaline state which serves to bring the body into a more alkaline state.

Almost all fruits and vegetables are very low in acid content after consumed. One note concerning potatoes; they are more alkaline when consumed with the skin.
