Ingredients for Orange Scone Recipe
3 Cups of White Flour
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
While oven preheats bring out two mixing bowls. Mix all of the dry ingredients in one bowl. In the other bowl, pour in the milk & vinegar. You can also opt for buttermilk as the milk/vinegar combination is a substitute for fattier buttermilk.
Next, add the remaining wet ingredients, except the 1 beaten egg. This will be used to add luster to the scones as they bake.
Incorporate wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Briefly knead on a lightly floured surface then tap down till they reach a height of about 1 inch.
Cut into triangles. Re-roll leftover dough & cut into more triangles. Place on a non-greased baking sheet & brush with thy egg mixture. Pop into preheated oven & bake till done, about 10 – 12 minutes.
Makes 1 dozen for about 225 calories each.
For Lemon Scones simply substitute lemon peel for orange peel and vanilla for 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice.
