Senior Health - Tea Time!  Setting Aside Relaxation Time

Rest is Necessary for Good Health

Most of us have been trained over the years to view relaxation as a form of slacking off.

Generally, this was passed down to us by our employers, in a much younger phase of our lives.

I had a boss at one time who actually accused the employees who found easier methods for getting the job done more efficiently of being lazy. She was an odd thing; she used to brag about preparing Spam Nachos for her husband and his friends when they would come over to watch football games.

Nonetheless, the employees were actually doing a wonderful thing for the company. They were not only making their jobs easier to perform, they also made more time in the day for other tasks that could be done.

Relaxation's Fitness Connection

Relaxation is a huge key to overall fitness, as well as longevity.

When the body grows older, many individuals feel as if they are being too lazy - taking time out to relax and enjoy a few peaceful moments. They may feel that their time grows shorter with each day and they have to fit everything that they can into their day.

But studies indicate that the body performs best after taking a break from activity. We think better, we're more relaxed so we don't become as stressed, and we are simply - more efficient. Simply put, taking a break can actually assist in allowing us to accomplish more.

In Summary

Make an effort to sit down each day and enjoy a few relaxing moments - whether you're enjoying hot tea, hot coffee or a cold diet lemonade and you'll get some healthy benefits in the process.
