Gramps & Grannies, Time to Get a-Moving!

Depending upon your level of mobility, there are a variety of fun activities to be enjoyed by seniors at any age.

Although rock climbing might need to be scratched off your agenda, what about rock collecting?  

And although you might not be able to swim the English Channel, what about swimming in the pool at the local YMCA - or setting up an aquarium at home?

Whatever you choose to do, keep in mind that it's your choice.  Make the best of a very good thing - for you, and for your health.

On that note, think about an activity that you've always wanted to do. Now that you have that in mind, is it something that you can do? Do you have the strength and stamina? Does the activity have considerable risk involved?

If the activity is too aggressive, is there one that is similar such as the examples that we mentioned above that you can do instead?

Thinking outside of the box often produces fun things!

Why It's Important to Your Health to Get Moving

If you're like most individuals, you have an oil can around the place. It may be in your home or your garage.

It may be used rarely - but it's there should you need it.

This reminds me a bit of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz who was always crying and rusting - and who needed a shot of oil to get moving again.

This is much like the human body. The more we sit, the more we stay in a relaxed pose, the more that our muscles and bones degenerate.

Unlike the Tin Man, we don't have a special oil can to assist. But by keeping active, we most likely won't need one.

Good health is about more than just a healthy weight. It also entails the following situations.

- Having a circle of friends and family members for support & love;

- Hug and be hugged for your good health;

- Faith - For without faith, we are dead;

- Hobby - Something that you wake up AND go to bed thinking about.
