Weight Loss - Diet Personality Traits

Written by Diet Bites

Diet Article: How personality relates to weight loss.

Are you hyperactive? Low key? Are you mild-mannered or moody? Define the personalities below as close to your own and follow the weight loss tips that accompany your personality type.

Before we get to our bullet points - whatever your mood, your personality type graduates over into your weight loss plan and can impact the manner in which you make choices.

The more positive your response, then the more likely you'll experience something positive in the area of weight loss results.

Most of us don't pay attention to how we respond to a particular situation. We react based on our prior experiences. At times, we even learn life lessons based on our actions, after the fact.

And when we pause to examine how we might react to certain situations, it provides us with great insight as to how we might better handle a particular situation.

On that note, try to answer as honestly as possible the following question: "My personality tends to be:"

a. Hyperactive Personality

If you have a hyperactive personality, strive to funnel activity towards things that are unrelated to food. This trait can work well towards weight loss.

For example, Dieter Mindy is full of energy and it's getting into the late evening hours. Soon, she'll be pillowing her head for the night - but with all this bottled energy, it might be difficult to fall asleep. Perhaps if she had a cup of hot chocolate with mini-marshmallows that might serve to calm her a bit. Then again, all that sugar might make her feel even more hyper.

She decides to grab her car keys and visit her parents. They are decorating their house in preparation for the holidays and would appreciate Mindy's help. Problem solved without all those extra calories and sugar grams.

Going forward with her weight loss plan, Mindy should take special care to avoid sugar as well as caffeine which might make her feel even more hyper.

b. Low Key Personality

The biggest challenge for the low key personality amid dieting may be keeping motivated to lose weight. The low key personality tends to go with the flow but deep inside, they really care about what is happening around them. They just prefer to get along and avoid stress.

Therefore, the low key personality should strive to keep their motivation and see their weight loss plan through until they reach their goals. They should never allow food or drink to control their set goals. It will be challenging, but once the low key personality has made a firm decision, they should keep sailing smoothly until their goals have been achieved.

c. Even Keel Personality

This type of diet personality tends to be 'in the middle of the Diet Road' and may experience situations where they feel totally motivated about losing weight, or they may slip into the low key personality and feel unexcited about dieting.

They should adjust and move forward to weight loss success. As a note, the diet personality is one of the strongest in this group.

d. The Moody Personality: I am very moody and unpredictable.

Certain foods may actually be triggering your moods.  It's a good idea to get with your doctor just to make sure.

The moody personality may have difficultly while losing weight in keeping motivated. Moody dieters tend to change diets often - which isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as they don't totally ditch their weight loss efforts and get into the Yo-Yo dieting state of mind.

e. Depressed Personality

As in the moody individual, certain foods may actually be triggering your moods. It's a good idea to get with your doctor just to make sure. Please note that clinical depression and simply being depressed about a certain issue are totally different. Clinical depression requires professional assistance.

If you are feeling depressed about your current weight, you can start dropping those unwanted pounds now. Putting it off until another day will only add to an unhappy state.

In Summary: Take this knowledge and guard it well for it will help you during your weight loss journey.
