Be sure to monitor the cooking process with a watchful eye as when cabbage becomes over-cooked it takes on a mushy texture which is soft and unpleasant to the taste. Cabbage pairs well with carrots. Try mixing it in equal portions with sliced carrots for an easy, diet friendly side dish. Just a teaspoon of reduced fat margarine, a shake of sea salt and a few shakes of cracked pepper will take the recipe to a whole new level of flavors.
