Sinnomon Apples, a Low Calorie Recipe

Even a weight loss plan needs a tasty dessert from time-to-time....

The base of this diet recipe is the healthy apple. No need to peel off the skin - just core and remove all the seeds.

And it's oh-so-simple to prepared with the minimum of fuss.

Ingredients for this low calorie, low fat recipe:

1 small apple - unpeeled but cored
Parkay, no calorie butter spray
Ground Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon of Brown Sugar
Splenda if more sweetness is desired
Add a few red hots if desired.

Fill the middle of apple with the ingredients listed above and microwave for 3-5 minutes. Delicious and healthy too. This recipe serves one for about 125 calories when a small apple is used.

Low Calorie Apple Pancake Recipe

Mix together the following ingredients to form the pancake batter:

1/2 cup all-purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
1 Large Egg, Beaten
1 Cup of Reduced Fat Milk
1/4 cup of Vegetable Oil
1/8 Teaspoon of Salt
1/2 cup of shredded apples, flesh only
1 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
Cooking Spray
1 Tablespoon of Splenda (cooking variety) OR you can use real sugar OR brown sugar if you wish

Mix all of the above into a smooth batter - omitting the apples. Stir the shredded apple into the batter. Cook in a non-stick pan, griddle or skillet until golden brown on one side; flip and cook the opposite side. If the cooking spray needs a little help, you add a touch of oil to the pan.

Top the pancakes with the following rather than syrup:

Peel and core two apples and chop into cubes. Add 1/2 inch of water to a microwave safe dish and also add the chopped apple. Cook in microwave until apples are tender; remove and add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a bit of Splenda to the apples. Stir.

Or, you can opt for light apple pie filling which contains 50 calories per serving. The pancake recipe makes 8 generous pancakes for about 120 calories each.

Apple Filled Crepes

Crepes are ultra easy to prepare and use minimal ingredients. You will need the following:

1 cup of reduced fat milk
2/3 cup of all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon of cooking oil

Combine milk, flour, salt, eggs and oil and beat until the mixture is well incorporated. Lightly oil a non-stick skillet and heat until very warm but not hot. Remove and add 1/4 cup of the batter. You'll have to turn the skillet or pan in a circular motion to move the batter into a flat circle. Return to the heat source and continue to cook until golden brown on one side only. Remove carefully and fill with 1/2 cup of canned light apple pie filling. Recipe makes 9 servings at about 100 calories per crepe.
