Conquering Weight Gain Issues for a Happier, Healthier Life - Written by Sky Taylor

If you're a Teddy Bear or a Curvy Lady dealing with unwanted weight, I'm here to encourage you to accept where you are today - and to love yourself, no matter what you weigh....

Weight Loss Gurus from all four corners of the universe are offering information on weight loss and weight gain issues these days, but an extreme few have ever experienced a Fat Day in their Skinny Life. If you're a fan of Diet Bites, you know that I've been there - severely obese, desperately struggling with weight gain issues.

Although I was successful in dropping those unwanted pounds, lately I've been deeply moved by personal experiences with people desperately trying to lose weight. I've seen a lot of tears, a lot of sadness and a lot of inner pain as individuals struggle to deal with the discomforts and phobias associated with weight gain. So many overweight individuals are so concerned with losing weight that they don't take time to enjoy their current life. They have the illusion - as I did at one time, that if they lose all those extra pounds, they will also lose all their troubles and struggles with life.

Weight & the Stress Factor

Losing weight won't erase life's troubles. In fact, worrying over your current weight can actually do as much damage to your health as those extra pounds may be capable of doing. Stress is a huge factor in overall health. Too much stress and the body suffers both physically and mentally. Stress can trigger a plethora of health issues unrelated to weight.

Therefore, kick stress to the sidelines, using your most effective weapon. For some, that weapon might be prayer; for others it might be a nice walk. For others, it may be spending time in the kitchen, turning those favorite recipes into healthier recipes. Or, for others, their most effective weapon against stress might be a special hobby - such as knitting, sewing, playing basketball or playing or listening to music. Whatever the weapon, use it well and your health will greatly benefit.

Weight & the Confidence Factor

If you're struggling with weight gain, obesity, or unwanted pounds, you're most-probably struggling with low confidence and self-esteem. Keep in mind that although Body Image plays a big role in how we are viewed and accepted by others, our personalities and how we conduct ourselves supersedes the Body Image Factor.

Think about a few overweight stars that are dear to your heart - stars that have made you laugh, or who have filled your life with entertaining adventures on the Big Screen. They are loved because of their personalities and talents which have absolutely nothing to do with what they do (or did) weigh.

So hold that head up high! Stand tall and flex those shoulders, which in itself can instantly make one appear thinner! Be yourself and be proud of yourself.

Weight & the Guilt Factor

Anyone who is overweight or who has been overweight has experienced the following situation....

The meeting place may occur at work, at a family event, at a social event, in a restaurant or simply in the company of another individual. Food is always the star of the event. And when it arrives, the overweight individual suddenly feels self-conscious. They may feel guilty over putting even one bite into their mouth because after all, they are overweight - so why should they be eating? Yes, it's a crazy thought, but as someone who has been there and done that, these crazy thoughts can haunt both sensitive and insensitive individuals.

With this said, just because an individual is overweight doesn't mean that they should experience guilt over everything that passes through the lips. In addition, they shouldn't feel guilty or overwhelmed when they enjoy a special treat. What's life without a little bit of strawberry shortcake now and then? Or chocolate cake? Or cookies? Or a soda?...and so forth.

As Diet Bites has said time and time again, an addiction to food is perhaps one of the most powerful addictions in today's world. One can avoid alcohol, tobacco, gambling and even sexual addictions by getting as far away from them as possible (in combination with professional guidance) BUT one can never escape the temptation of food. We must eat to live, therefore we are continually tempted.

Weight & the Life Factor

Many individuals fantasize about weight loss, imaging that one day they will achieve permanent Weight Loss Success. While those thoughts are quite normal, they should not consume your current life. We should live each and every day to the fullest, because whatever size we might be, it may very well be our last day of life.

Going Forward in Managing Weight Gain

Coming to terms with your current size takes true grit and inner strength. Life is not perfect, therefore we are not perfect. Sure, there may be pounds to lose, and more activity inserted into the daily grind, but being overweight should not equal continuous worrying over one's weight. We can eat the most healthy diet in the world; we can be so fit that we can climb the world's highest mountain - yet, if we lack self-worth, or love for our own self, life becomes a state of misery.

One can always lose weight, albeit with the assistance of great dedication and perseverance, and at times, a little help from our Diet Guardian Angel. So yes, if you are in need of dropping pounds - YES you can! BUT - BUT, yes BUT - in the meantime, work in accepting who you are NOW for a happier, healthier, life.
