Yogurt Calories

The exact number of calories is greatly dependent upon the brand purchased. Some recipes are low fat while others are low fat plus zero added sugars.

Caloric values can range from about 80 kcals to over 140 kcals per cup. Many brands only contain 4-6 ounce serving sizes.

Calcium in Low Fat Yogurt

In the yogurt we researched, the calcium content was almost 500 milligrams. That's quite an impressive amount. Generally, low fat or reduced fat dairy products contain more calcium in comparison to their whole milk counterparts.

Calcium is known for supporting healthy bones. But it does so much more! Calcium supports nerve, heart and muscle health. When it is taken with Vitamin D it may protect against certain types of cancers, combat diabetes and high blood pressure.

Potassium Benefits

Potassium content of low fat yogurt is generally over 600 milligrams. Health benefits associated with potassium include: protection against stroke, metabolism health, enhancement of muscle strength, ensuring adequate electrolyte function - including the balancing of water/fluids within the body, combating heart and kidney disorders.

Potassium also supports a healthy nervous system, fighting stress and anxiety.

Potassium is one of the three key electrolytes in the human body; the other two are sodium and calcium.
