Quince Jam Recipe

One of the most popular uses for quince is making a tasty jam. They are also used in making pies.

Quince Jam Recipe Ingredients

3 cups of fresh quince
2 cups of water
1/8 cup of lemon juice, bottled or from fresh lemons
2 cups of sugar
lemon zest - about a teaspoon

To prepared, remove the cores from the quince, leaving the peeling in tact. Grate finely, including the peel.

Combine all of the ingredients except the sugar and place into a thick, non-stick pot. Bring to a boil, reduce to low heat and simmer for about 10 minutes so that the quince reaches a soft stage.

Add the sugar and stir. The mixture will turn pinkish and thicken as it cooks, generally in 15 to 20 minutes or so. Take care not to overcook as the sugar will turn into a hard state.

Store in the fridge for a couple of days and enjoy with your morning toast or bagel.
