Calories in Franks

Too many little porkers can turn our body into a big porker. So keep that in mind before poking too many into your mouth.

Franks vary greatly in caloric content - from just under 100 kcals to about 300 kcals.

Whenever we have hotdogs, I always slice my frank lengthwise into three pieces. I enjoy the outer slices, putting each into a hotdog bun. I leave the larger center piece for another recipe, such as beans and franks.

This way, I can enjoy a hotdog for about 150 kcals. And it allows me to enjoy two!

Calories in Bacon

Actually, bacon is fairly light in kcals when prepared in the microwave. Most of the fat is zapped away leaving a strip that contains about 25 calories.

The exact amount of energy values will depend upon the thickness and the fattiness of the original strip, of course.

Pork Selections Packed With Sodium

Our local Wal-mart used to carry its brand of franks which contained the lowest on the shelf in sodium content. But for some reason, they aren't available anymore. The next lowest is the Oscar Mayer brand, so that is my go-to frank.

When choosing port selections, I recommend paying very special attention to the salt content because an overage in the daily diet isn't good for heart health, and it can cause water retention. And who oh who enjoys body bloat?
