Calories & Fat Content in Popular Tree Nuts

Our Nutrition Data Chart posted below lists some common and also uncommon nuts. We have included calories in seeds as well as unusual edible nuts, such as the acorn which can be used to make flour, or in the wild, as a coffee substitute. We have also included the coconut.

Almost all nuts exceed 150 calories per one ounce serving size. Exceptions include the Japanese and European chestnuts, acorns and the kola nut.

They make healthy alternatives to animal sources of protein. One ounce of Brazil nuts contains about 4 grams of protein. An ounce of cashews, about 6 grams.

How is the Kola Nut used? Generally as a supplement to increase energy levels. It may also hold powers which increase overall health.

Where is the Kola Nut grown? African rainforests.

How does the Kola Nut taste & what about its size? It is a larger nut about the size of a small apricot. As to the flavor, it can be quite bitter.

It is available as a supplement, but does not come without potential risk of side effects. Supplements work to boost the central nervous system to deliver more energy and alertness.

It boosts metabolism if the product also contains caffeine.

The Kola Nut may also aid in digestion, increase circulation and may assist in halting growth of harmful bacteria.
