Fries, How Lovely.....Or Not

The name itself is derived from being 'fried' in fat, but these little jewels are oh-so-tasty. While McDonalds seems to hold the first prize award for tasty fries, Jack in the Box offers not one - but several varieties of the beloved potato.

We have natural fries, potato wedges and yes, curly fries.

Jack in the Box Potato Wedges

Unfortunately, the potato wedges are very high in energy values - 720 kcals for the Bacon Cheddar version. And over 40 grams of total fat, nine of which are in the form of saturated fat.

Even the impressive 17 protein grams cannot balance the overage of excessive energy and fat values.

And 1,250 milligrams of sodium? Seriously? I don't think so - not if you want to avoid evil hip bloat, not to mention all-over-the-body bloat. With this much salt on your plate [or in your box of fries] even your toes and hair will bloat. For sure.....

Options for the Jack in the Box Tator Menu

Share a small packet of the natural cut fries. You and your pal will only consume 150 calories each and 10 grams of total fat.

Rather than fries, enjoy an egg roll. And you can even share that as well - making your caloric intake only 75 skinny calories.

Jack in the Box Taco

I used to adore this taco in my younger years. It was a great penny-pincher, and still is - all these years later.

It tasted spicy, had a greasy tortilla shell and the filling was quite tasty. It just might be me, but it seems that a few years ago, the recipe was altered?

It's been a while since I tried them, more for research than not. After that first time when the taco tasted like my cat's food smells, I thought my taste buds had something wrong with them. So I tried the taco again, and frankly, I'd rather skip lunch than try another one. It was hugely disgusting....more like garbage tossed inside the extra-greasy tortilla shell than food fit for human consumption.

I didn't get ill afterwards - nor experience stomach upset. It was just a very gross experience. I won't ever purchase one again, for sure.

BUT - as to their small hamburger and cheeseburger, those are the two menu items that I will stick too when visiting Jack in the Box. They are quite tasty.

Fries Too Salty

My better half generally adds salt to everything, but not to the Curly fries. Like most of the items at this popular fast food establishment, excess salt ruins the food for me. One can also add more if needed, but it's basically impossible to remove it from a fast food item.
